Findhorn Bay is a wide sandy estuary which is of national importance for birds with significant numbers of migrant wildfowl and waders.
It is also a beautiful location and natural draw for tourists and locals, both as an activity centre and a peaceful place.
Most of the western shore of the bay is bounded by the Culbin Forest and only accessible on foot or by boat from Findhorn.
The eastern shore is flanked by a road from Forres which provides access to the village of Findhorn on the northern tip of the tidal bay.
It was designated as a local nature reserve in 1998.
