Aviation history museum
Morayvia is an aviation museum, perfectly placed near to one of the country’s former RAF stations at Kinloss.
As a result, there is lots of exhibits featuring Nimrods, which were based at the station here before it became an army base.
However, there is much more to see than Nimrods. The museum is relatively new, but has expanded rapidly to feature a massive interior display as well as many full size and partial outdoor exhibits such as:
- Sea King XZ592
- Wessex HC Mk2 XR528
- Nimrod XV240
- Antonov AN-2
- Vampire T11
- Hunter F5
- Jet Provost T4
- Jaguar GR3
- Lightning F1.A
- Wessex HU5
- Valiant B1
- Vulcan B2
- Whirlwind HAR.10
- Herald HPR7
- Nimrod XV244
The organisation was formed in May 2011 to progress work started by the Nimrod Heritage Group. This was to preserve the last remaining Nimrod at RAF Kinloss – XV244.
Morayvia is now considered to be one of the premier aviation museums in Scotland.
