Sanquhar Loch, or pond as it is sometimes known, is fed by, and empties into, the Burn of Mosset, which flows through the town and ultimately into Findhorn Bay.
It lies within a residential area about half a mile south of the town centre. It is surrounded by the Sanquhar woodlands, where there are plenty of walks and mountain bike trails.
Swans can be seen rearing their cygnets.
These are managed by the Forres Community Woodlands Trust, along with Muiry Wood, New Forres Wood and Council Wood.
