Restored 18th century iron ore mine
The Lecht Mine is a prominent building set back from the road between Tomintoul and The Lecht ski centre.
It is a former iron mining site that operated between 1730 and 1737, and then manganese from 1841 and operations stopped in 1846.
At its height, more than 60 people worked at the mine.
It was restored in 1983. Car parking is available at the nearby Well of Lecht.
