Dunrobin Castle

A fairytale castle with beautiful gardens

Home > Explore > NC500 > Dunrobin Castle

Dunrobin Castle is the archetypal fairytale castle, perched on a clifftop on the eastern seaboard of Sutherland between Golspie and Brora.

The castle somewhat resembles a French château with conical spires. It was used as a naval hospital during the First World War and a boys’ boarding school from 1965 to 1972.

Dunrobin Castle is open annually from 1st April to 31st October.
