Macbeth’s Hillock, five miles west of Forres at Brodie, consistently received great reviews and 10/10 ratings from visitors on the camping portal pitchup.com which put it into the top four in the country.

Five pods are available on the site which overlooks the spot where it is said that Shakespeare’s Macbeth met with the three witches that told of his rise to become king and then his consequent demise.

While the witches might not have existed, Macbeth certainly did and the coastline of the Moray Firth is dotted with reminders of Scotland’s proud and sometimes turbulent history.

This peaceful site has country views, comfortable accommodation in pods with ensuite bathrooms, and friendly flocks of chickens and sheep next door. Visitors gave it 10 out of 10 for its clean facilities and beautiful location. Sea fishing, dolphin spotting, cruises and many famed whisky distilleries are within an hour’s drive.

Pitchup.com customers rate each site for aspects like location, value for money, quality of accommodation, activities and cleanliness.
