Crovie

A tiny coastal village best explored on foot

Home > Explore > NE250 > Crovie

Crovie (pronounced croovy) is one of three coastal villages tucked so tightly into this part of the coast, that you’re advised to leave your car at the top of the hill and walk in!

But before you set off on foot, go to the edge of the clifftop and peer down over the edge. You’ll see Crovie from above and you can see this tiny coastal settlement, fitting the snug curve of the cove.

There’s not even a harbour here, or a breakwater, just a single pier and whatever the elements bring in, there’s little defence.

Birdwatching

Nearby Troupe Head is a RSPB nature reserve with superb clifftop views. Expect to see razorbills, gannets, guillemots, puffins and other species in this remote coastal area.
