Green spaces and parks
Forres has numerous green spaces where you can rest, relax, walk your dog, have a picnic, stretch your legs, or just surround yourself in a natural environment.
Grant Park

Grant Park is the largest park in Forres. It was gifted to the town by Sir Alexander Grant, who bought it specifically for the community to use as a recreational facility. It is split into three sections and surrounded by trees on all front.
There are two tree-lined paths bisecting the park, one arm of which leads up to Nelson’s Tower on the top of Cluny Hill beside the park; the other which separates the main park from the flower gardens.
It is here you will find many beautiful little floral sculptures and flower beds. These are created and tended for by Forres in Bloom, a volunteer group who have won numerous awards for the town over the years. There also a more formal sunken garden, built in the ground where Forres House used to stand before it burned down in 1970.
The main park has a natural arena which is surrounds a cricket pitch. This lends itself to large-scale events which it has hosted in recent years, such as Piping At Forres and the World Orienteering Championships.
The park has two pavilions, one for the cricket and one shared by the Soccer 7s and bowling club. The bowling green sites between the sunken gardens and the main park.

A path goes all round the pond, and the still water produced photogenic reflections of the nearby Mosset Tavern and St Laurence Church. Benches are situated along the pond edge.
Mosset Rose Garden
The rose garden skirts the pathway that leads from the pond to the high street. The large grassy area beside it is a quiet place to sit and relax. There are benches here.
Market stance
Next to the war memorial is the old Market Stance where cattle markets were held in days gone by. This area is lined with impressive trees. The war memorial is surrounded by well-tended gardens which include red roses.
