An introduction to the identification and ethnobotany of conifers
In celebration of National Tree Week Jennie will be running an introduction to conifers workshop at Logie Steading by the stunning SSI of Findhorn River, Morayshire.
During this workshop you will find out what makes a conifer a conifer and how to start to identifying them. We will also look at what conifers do for the environment and how have humans used them in the past, or currently use them in present times.
During this fun and interactive workshop you will have the chance to learn some of the key physical characteristics that will help you identify different conifers, be signposted to several resources that can help you with your continued learning, as well as learn about some of the ethnobotanical uses of this fascinating group of plants.
Half the workshop will be inside and half outside looking at specimens in the wonderful woodlands alongside, and near by Findhorn River.
What to Bring:
– Warm clothes for when we head outside
– Walking boots
– Lunch and snacks (though there is a fabulous cafe at Logie steading that you can get good food from too)
